To Kill it Dry

To kill it dry was an installation made of sculptures of corals, sponges and whale vertebrae laying on the entrance floor of the gallery blocking the passageway to enter the group exhibition. Its special feature was that to get in and view the other artworks, visitors would have to jump over, step on or just simply walk trough. The goal of this piece was to raise environmental awareness by revealing the true human nature; by putting them in a position where they had no choice but to destroy artwork if they wanted to move on to the exhibition, they would realize their behavior towards the environment. The responses were many, most people would step very lightly searching for the areas that could cause less damage, some people pass right through without even thinking about it, few of them jumped over, one or two preferred not to come in. In revealing the peoples' true behavior to themselves by putting them in a position where they have no choice but to destroy artwork, offers them a chance to become aware.
